Shabnam Parvaresh is a clarinetist, visual artist, and curator from Tehran (Iran) and currently the artistic director of the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück.
She studied Fine Arts in Tehran while beginning her musical career as a clarinetist with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra. In 2014, she moved to Germany due to the repressive political situation in Iran to study jazz clarinet at the University of Music in Osnabrück. Her musical work follows an exploratory approach that blends elements of Persian music with electronic sounds, improvisation, and jazz.
In 2020, she founded the Sheen Trio, whose second album Transitory was released in January 2026 on the Swiss label Unit Records. The ensemble has gained international recognition in the jazz scene; its music has been broadcast by national and international radio stations and featured at festivals such as Leipziger Jazzweek, Rejazz, and Jazz Linard.
In addition, Shabnam Parvaresh performs as an instrumentalist in numerous other projects, including Emily Wittbrodt’s Wearing Words and Jan Klare’s KIND. She has appeared at renowned events such as Cologne Jazzweek and the Moers Festival. Guest performances have taken her to major stages including the Elbphilharmonie and the Kölner Philharmonie.
Alongside her musical activities, she also works as a curator: she is the artistic director of the renowned Morgenland Festival Osnabrück, curates the concert series Klangfenster at hase29—focusing on improvised and experimental music—and assembled an international lineup for the Osnabrück Jazz Initiative “Jazz49” for the Jazz Festival Osnabrück.
As a visual artist, Shabnam Parvaresh has presented her work in solo exhibitions in Tehran, Osnabrück, and the United Arab Emirates. In recognition of her artistic achievements, she was nominated for the Osnabrück Art Prize in 2022.

Shabnam Parvaresh ist Klarinettistin, bildende Künstlerin und Kuratorin aus Teheran (Iran) und derzeit künstlerische Leiterin des Morgenland Festival Osnabrück.
Sie studierte Bildende Kunst in Teheran und begann parallel ihre musikalische Laufbahn als Klarinettistin am Teheraner Symphonieorchester. 2014 zog sie aufgrund der repressiven politischen Situation im Iran nach Deutschland, um an der Hochschule für Musik in Osnabrück Jazzklarinette zu studieren. In ihrer musikalischen Arbeit verfolgt sie einen explorativen Ansatz, der Elemente der persischen Musik mit elektronischen Klängen, Improvisation und Jazz verbindet.
